I am pleased to submit the attached newsletter that highlights our Fifth Symposium at the Harte Research Institute in Corpus Christi, “Healthy Texas Shorelines”. The newsletter contains all the abstracts that were presented at the meeting on April 16 as well as a review of the Nueces Bay and Corpus Christi Bay Field Trip the day before conducted by Dr. Mark Besonen and Randy Bissel.  The Symposium was another real success and I again thank the Chair of the Committee and Newsletter, Cris Weber, and I thank especially Jace Tunnel from University of Texas Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, who moderated the meeting, and Skip Davis, formerly with the Harte Research Institute.  I also thank the lunch sponsor, Naismith Marine Services (see http://www.naismithmarine.com/).

Please mark your calendar for our next meeting which will be a luncheon on August 22 in Galveston at the Convention Center.  The meeting will tie in with the Galveston District U.S. Army Corp of Engineers “Partnering and Collaborating” meeting the day before.  Details of the meeting will be forthcoming but please save the date and mark your calendar.
